In the Spring of 2013, Santa Barbara photographer, Danny Leavitt, took the gamble of a lifetime. Armed with a green Surly touring bicycle named Lola and a Nikon camera (weighing nearly as much as the bike itself), he quit his 9 to 5 and a comfortable life in Chicago to bike across the US and capture the varied landscapes and people of this country. For 3 months he pedaled over hill and dale, from New York to San Francisco, over 4000 miles. The photographs in these collections are mostly a result of these travels. The journey finally led Danny to discover and settle in San Francisco, California, a place that can only be described as a photographer's Disneyland. Living aboard a 26 ft sailboat, Danny treats each ocean-scented morning as a new opportunity to transcribe nature's elusive beauty, one image at a time.
